70 million dinars are available to Niš farmers from the city budget to subsidize their activities, which is more than it was allocated in the previous period, as it was estimated in a conversation between Niš City Mayor Dragana Sotirovski and Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Aleksandar Bogićević in the City Hall. Slobodan Randjelović, a Member of Niš City Council and the representatives of the Agricultural Advisory and Expert Service attended the meeting at which the situation in agriculture in Niš area was comprehensively reviewed. Every agricultural producer who applied for subsidies passed a rigorous control and review of the actual condition of his agricultural farm and production, said Randjelović. Bogicević assessed that progress had been made in the agricultural area in Niš and he especially pointed out the problem of the lack of processing capacities. We are the country that exports the most raw materials and we know that the processed product is more expensive and brings higher profits, said Bogicević. He mentioned that the Government of Serbia, the Ministry and local self-governments must work together to raise processing capacities.
