Training for Two-wheeler Drivers

In cooperation with the Traffic Safety Agency of the Republic of Serbia and the City of Niš, training was organized for two-wheeler drivers with the aim of their safe participation in traffic. As a local self-government we help the organization of such trainings, and this is the sixth year of the project whose goal is the safe participation of two-wheelers in traffic in the streets of Niš, said Niš City Mayor Dragana Sotirovski, who visited practical training of motorcycle and moped riders in the parking lot next to Roda Center. Statistics warn us that this year in Niš there were 22 traffic accidents in which the participants in the traffic were motorcycle drivers, and in one case we had a fatal outcome, the Mayor stated. According to her the City of Niš will follow the instructions of the traffic police in setting up video surveillance and protective fences on the boulevards in order to cover the „black spots“ in the city where the risk of a traffic accident is greatest. When you ride a motorcycle, you are 20 times more likely to experience a traffic accident than the driver of a passenger vehicle, 45 times more fatal, and as many as 90 times more likely to suffer serious bodily injuries, said Miodrag Dimitrijević, the manager of the two-wheeler driver training project. He said that motorcyclists were often to blame for causing a traffic accident, but that in most cases the blame lied with the drivers of passenger vehicles. The goal of the training is to prepare two-wheeler drivers for safe participation in traffic, and we can achieve that only if we raise the training of those drivers to a much higher level, Dimitrijević mentioned.
