Days of Slovak Culture in Niš – Outdoor Concert

On the occasion of the Day of Slovak Culture in Serbia, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic, with the support of the Honorary Consul and the City of Niš, is organizing an open-air concert of the Military Orchestra of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic and an exhibition marking the centenary of for sovereignty and social justice. The event aims to present Slovak culture to Serbia through various artistic genres, and is held in only four countries in the world. The modern history of the military music orchestra, whose roots go back to the beginning of the 19th century, dates back to 1953, when the orchestra had 40 members. The function and status of the military orchestra have not changed for almost 200 years. The Military Orchestra became the orchestra of the President of the Slovak Republic in 1993 and has since participated in welcoming ceremonies for many leading representatives and delegations of governments from around the world. An important segment of the existence of the military orchestra in the past was the representation of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic abroad. The military orchestra, based in Bratislava, has participated in many military music festivals in Europe and currently has 50 members. The program, which will be presented to the Niš audience, will include original and folk melodies from Slovakia.
