Niš City Mayor Dragana Sotirovski met in the City Hall with the Ambassador of Australia to Serbia, Ms. Ruth Stewart, with whom she discussed the improvement of cooperation between Niš and the Embassy of Australia and cities in Australia. We agreed that more intensive contacts with the Australian community in Serbia and the Serbian community in Australia, as well as the interconnection of the IT sector, are areas with the greatest potential in further improving cooperation between the two sides. Cultural and scientific cooperation are areas that were also the topic of our conversation, said Niš City Mayor.

The Ambassador Ruth Stewart was especially interested in the business climate in Niš and the possibilities of cooperation. She accepted Dragana Sotirovski’s proposal to visit the Science and Technology Park, which was not foreseen by the protocol, in order to get acquainted with the development of innovative technologies and the companies that work there. The exhibition „Evolution – Masks of the Torres Strait“ organized by the Australian Embassy in Belgrade in cooperation with the Youth Office of the City of Niš will be opened in the Officers’ Home. Residents of the far north of Australia who live on the islands in Torres Strait make originally decorated masks that are a mirror of the tradition and spirituality of that area. The exhibition is open until August 18.
