A commemorative session was held at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts on the occasion of the recent death of academician Prof. Dr. Milorad Mitkovic, who made Niš the world capital of orthopedics and traumatology. Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts has launched an initiative for a street in Nis to bear his name. The commemorative session at Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts was attended by the Niš City Mayor Dragana Sotirovski, together with members of the family of Academician Mitković, the director of the University Clinical Center in Niš, Prof. Dr. Zoran Perišić. Professor Mitković was elected a corresponding member of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in 2012 and a regular member in 2018, when he was also elected vice president of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts branch in Niš.
