Rescuing people from the collapsed building due to the earthquake, evacuation of passengers from the plane that landed off the runway and extinguishing the fire at the airport and oil storage, preventive evacuation of workers in the Industrial Zone North, alerting the population, stopping dangerous gas leaks, is the content of operational and tactical exercises “SYSTEM 2021” in Niš performed at eight locations with more than 600 participants. Operational-tactical exercise was performed simultaneously at 50 locations in the Republic of Serbia, which showed the readiness of all participants to act in natural disasters and technical-technological accidents. Niš City Mayor and the Commander of the Niš City Team for Responding in Emergency Situation Dragana Sotirovski, said that this was one of the most massive exercises held in Niš, in which the services of public utility companies, members of the civil protection, Serbian-Russian Humanitarian Center, citizens, students, various city ​​population participated.

“The knowledge and experience I have personally gained are invaluable, because we have seen and we have been shown what to do in specific situations. The high level of readiness of our teams can be seen, and the technical equipment used in exercise will remain and will be ready for responding in emergency situations. I am proud of my associates and all the people who participated in this exercise”, Dragana Sotirovski pointed out. The Head of the Emergency Situation Responding Administration and the Head of the City Team for Emergency Situations, Srdjan Mitrović, assessed that the exercise was a valuable training for all participants. He mentioned that a study for a quality remote alarm system was being prepared and that work was underway on the formation of a general purpose Civil Protection unit.
