Dear fellow citizens, on behalf of the City of Niš and my personal behalf, I wish to extend my congratulation on the occasion of marking Armistice Day in the First World War. A nation becomes free by deciding not to agree to live humiliated. The heroic Serbian people have always chosen freedom and despised slavery. We paid dearly for it in the Great War. And when it seemed that everything was lost, we rose, revived just like Natalia’s Ramonda, which is a symbol of the victory of life over disappearance and non-existence. On November 11, every year, we celebrate freedom and peace. And there is no other way, peace is the only way. We speak with reverence and pride about the heroism of our ancestors. In that way, we keep the memories of the victims and we point out all the fatality of the war to our children and future generations. It is a way to preserve peace permanently. May we honor Armistice Day with the wish for all of us to progress and live even better and to look forward to each new day during the pandemic.
