Niš on the List of the Priorities of President Aleksandar Vučić and the State

The President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić began his three-day visit to Niš with a meeting with the mayors and the presidents of municipalities from Nišava administrative district  on the occasion of which they discussed the financial situation, energy situation and development projects of Niš and surrounding municipalities. Speaking about Niš Vučić said that Niš would receive 450 million dinars from the current republican budget reserve, which would contribute to fiscal stability and better functioning of the City of Nis so that it could progress even faster without the burden of some past times from 15 years ago when others made certain mistakes. He announced four new investments, which would additionally strengthen the City of Niš and increase the revenues of the local self-government.

In the year ahead, according to him, we will have major state projects: construction of the Čair Stadium, which will begin in March, construction of the Belgrade-Niš high-speed railway to be completed in 2026, reconstruction of the railway from Niš to Dimitrovgrad, construction bypass railways around Niš and relocation of the railway from the city center which is expected to be completed in December 2024. He reminded that the construction of the section of the high-speed railway Niš – Brestovac and the highway towards Merdare has begun. The state will invest 200 million Euros in Niš for the construction of the water supply and sewerage network. Assessing that great changes have taken place in Niš as well Vučić said that the growth rate in Niš was 67 percent. The average salary in Niš in 2012 was €316, and today it is €526, and the number of unemployed has been significantly reduced. President Vučić announced that he would raise the topic of the construction of the new building of the National Museum on the location that now belongs to the army. He pointed out that he was satisfied with the fiscal situation in the City of Niš in compared to the period of five or six years ago. „What is important to me is that these people have ideas, projects. They keep stable public finances and that is of great importance for the future development of Niš „, said Vučić, answering the question of the journalists whether he was satisfied with the work of the City of Niš leadership. After the meeting Vučić visited the Serbian factory Jumis where he talked about how the state, in addition to a stable economy and a stable tax system, could additionally help the development of the Serbian economy.
