With the handing over of the city key and the reception at the City Hall the Festival of Acting Achievements was opened, which is being held for the 55th time this year and within which the actors in 10 films will compete. Niš City Mayor Dragana Sotirovski handed the key of the city to the president of the jury, actress Tijana Pečenčić, saying that all of us, as well as the award winners, would remember that this festival was held during the pandemic. “The city decided with epidemiologists to hold the festival in this way and not to break with the tradition,” the Mayor noted. Tijana Pečenčić, the president of the festival jury, declaring the event open thanked the Mayor and the city for the warm welcome. She said that this was a specific festival precisely because it was dedicated to the actors and that the city welcomed the actors with a big heart every year. In addition to Tijana Pečenčić, the jury will also include actor Fedja Stojanović and actress Jelena Mila. Traditionally, a reception was organized for the guests in the City Hall, where the guests could see an exhibition dedicated to the director Goran Paskaljevic, who recently passed away and who had spent part of his life and schooling in Niš. Goran Paskaljević was honored with a minute of silence, and the quintet of the Niš Symphony Orchestra performed compositions from his films “Tango Argentino” and “Deceptive Summer”. As the Fortress Summer Stage, the traditional venue of the festival, does not meet the conditions of full epidemiological protection, the films will be shown in five halls of “Cineplex” movie theatre where there is already compliance with all prescribed epidemiological measures in force.
