CITY OF NIŠ – THE WINNER OF THE AWARD FOR ACCESSIBILITY

City of Niš is the winner of the award given by Ombudsman of Serbia for the contribution to the accessibility of the city center to people with disabilities, for the project “One Easy Kilometer” for the realization of which the city allocated 5 million dinars in the previous year.  The project was primarily focused on creating more accessible environment by adapting the most frequent roads, streets, pedestrian crossings and other facilities for unimpeded movement and access to public areas by all citizens.  The Ombudsman of Serbia, in cooperation with the Team for Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities – Association of Towns and Municipalities of Serbia, for the fourth year in a row, awards recognition to cities and municipalities that contributed to the development of all forms of accessibility on their territory. The award promotes examples of good practice in the field of accessibility at the local level.
