PROTOCOL ON COOPERATION WITH SERBIAN RAILWAYS SIGNED

Niš City Mayor Miloš Simonović and General Manager of PC Serbian Railways Milovan Marković signed the Protocol on Cooperation which envisaged achieving common goals with the objective of developing traffic, cargo and passenger transport and the development of the railway and city infrastructure.

Signing of this protocol creates conditions for starting the construction and reconstruction  of  15,5 km long railway road between Niš and Dimitrovgrad worth 15 million Euros which will be financed from IPA Funds and thus create the preconditions for relocating the railway hub from the city center.

“We have defined the construction dynamics of the north stretch of the railway road Niš - Ranžirana (Trupale) – Pantelej – Prosek.  The realisation of this project will be done in stages and it will coincide with the realisation of the electrification project of the railway Corridor X, starting from Dimitrovgrad going to Niš. The City of Niš has to resolve the issue of land expropriation and technical documentation.”, said Mayor Simonović.

Mayor Simonović pointed out that the protocol signing was even more important because it represented achieving agreement after many decades spent in attempts to resolve the problem of railway traffic on Niš City territory.

Milovan Marković, PC Serbian Railways General Manager, said on the occasion of protocol signing, that both the City of Niš and Serbian Railways accepted a great task and he expressed his pleasure for final resolution of all previous ambiguities.
