This departments is divided into three groups:
Since October 2008, the department has been active developing plans and managing the traffic on territory of Niš City related to the road and urban traffic and transport.
There are 7 employees in the department. |

Ongoing Activities and Projects:
The group for traffic regulations is engaged in the development of the quality projects for horizontal, vertical and light signalization, monitoring the transit traffic, organisation and management of the Blue Zone area, finding and implementing contemporary systems and devices for regulation of traffic. The group implemented several projects related introduction of circular cross roads at several points in the city. The most important project that the group has been working on is the establishment of cadastre of the traffic signalization.
The group for stationary traffic initiated the construction of the public garages in order to increase the available parking capacities. In cooperation with other city administrations and departments, it defined potential locations for the parking facilities construction. The justification for the construction of parking garages with the proposal of the most adequate garage type for particular locations has been prepared. The analysis of PUC Parking Service functioning has been prepared.
The Department is engaged in the development of the Transport Study in cooperation with EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) and this document represents the base for the creation of Master Urban Plan. The department is involved in CIVITAS project dealing with the finding of solutions for the introduction of contemporary alternative fuels in all motor traffic types with the objective to decrease the emission of harmful gases and creation of healthier environment.
The department has successful cooperation with the national and international institutions and organisations involved in traffic issues (GTZ, The Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, University of Belgrade, The Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, University of Novi Sad). |

The group in charge of public transport developed several analyses of the public urban and rural transport passenger after the introduction of integrate tariff system and those analyses helped with the obtaining the real picture of the passenger transport situation as the social category with high importance in everyday life of Niš Citizens. Together with the Department fro Legal and Financial Affairs, the group prepared several ordinances for the improvement of the transport service quality. The main objective of the group is to keep pace with new technologies, input-output parameters, quality level of services and proposing the adequate solutions for the management of the public passenger transport and taxi transport.
The Department for Traffic monitors the functioning of the PE Directorate for City land Development and PUC Parking Service.
