About us:
The department is newly formed organisational unit within the administration.
The department monitors and promotes functioning of the public communal companies and communal operations, the realization of the projects and initiatives with the objective to modernize the work of public communal companies and improve communal infrastructure.
There are 2 employees in the department.

Ongoing Activities:
The priorities are following:
- Monitoring the functioning of the public enterprises and public utility companies and implementing the measures in agreement with the managements of the enterprises and companies in order to achieve more efficient functioning and modernization of the communal services;
- Developing the analyses of the operative and financial business operations;
- Developing the projects of the technical equipment and modernization of the company functioning ( developing the feasibility studies and projects justifications);
- Developing and implementing measures for the rationalization and savings in companies;
- Developing the optimal systematization of the job posts in the companies;
- Developing the investment models according to the company projects;
- Cooperating with national and international governmental and non-governmental organizations in Serbia dealing with counseling and investment projects related to communal services.

Projects:
The department is developing and implementing following projects:
- Establishing of Public Utility Company Gorica (extraction from PUC Mediana);
- Introducing specific software for billing, control and processing of the data at PUC Tržnica;
- Provision of lap tops for PUC “Unified Billing” and connection to unique network- introducing billing service in city municipalities and local community offices.
- Provision of support to development of the tendering documents for the selection of the contractor for landfill Bubanj reconstruction;
- Regional waste management (cooperation with the municipalities in the region)
- Cooperation with USAID on the development of the Regional Strategic Plan for Waste Management for Niš Region;
- Supporting PUC Mediana in the implementation of the project for modernization of the vehicles and equipment for collection, transport and disposal of communal, industrial, dangerous waste as the precondition for integrated system of communal waste management;
- Developing the model of private public partnership for PUC Mediana with strategic partners: the construction of new regional sanitary landfill and the factory for waste treatment;
- Forming Ecological Zone by stimulating the citizens to utilize the ecological heating systems and to separate waste by distributing plastic containers with the volume of 120l for 2500 first connected households to the gas distribution pipe line (financed by the Fund for Environment Protection);
- Decreasing the wild landfills at more frequent city locations in the city by changing the street bins (financed by Fund for Environment Protection);
- Project of the German Government expert help through CIM project.
