Administration of Economy, Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection

On the City of Niš’s territory there are 9.460 entrepreneurs, 2.673 companies, 482 institutions and 1.665 other legal entities (06/30/2008). Insufficiently developed economy, high unemployment rate, large economy systems and utility companies structure changing, as well as finding strategic partners in privatization process, demand active participation of local government in creating economic development of the city as an important factor of reviving economic and social activities.

In line with City of Niš’s needs, Administration for economy, sustainable development and environmental protection has been formed. The administration contains seven departments, joining together all tasks relevant for local economic development. There are 65 work places in the administration. Head of the Administration is Dragan Karličić, Bachelor of Law.

Analyzing economic situation, city region development programming, mediation in the entrepreneurs registration and environmental protection tasks conducting in this administration make a good foundation for more efficient local economic development.

Forming of Project center enables gathering and organizing data on all projects supported by the City of Nis, which contributes to more quality project writing, more active participation of local government in international cooperation and more efficient strategic planning.
