President of the City Assembly: Ph.D Mile Ilić

Born into a family of teachers in 1954 in the village of Jovce, Municipality of Vladičin Han. Ph.D in legal science. Completed elementary school in Beliševo and graduated from high school "Svetozar Marković" in Niš as valedictorian.
Graduated from Faculty of Law in Niš where also defended his master thesis titled "Local Self-government an Law theory-Yugoslav Positive Law". He took his Ph.D. on "City position in the local self-government, especially reflected on Serbia."
Socially engaged since his high school days. President of the School Conference of the Youth Committee in "Svetozar Marković" high school, the president of the University Conference of the Student Union of University of Niš, as well as president of Intermunicipal Conference of socialist Youth Union for 15 municipalities in Niš region, and the member of Ministry of Republic conference of SSO Serbia.
After serving the Army he worked for 5 years as a political system advisor, secretary of municipal and general affairs and deputy secretary in the regional intermunicipal Assembly in Niš. In the intermunicipal conference SSRN for Niš region he was a member of ministry at constant work in the department of political systems for 3 years, after which presided over the Municipal Conference SSRN Niš and was a member of Republic and Union Conference SSRN.
Presided over the Council for development of the City of Niš, during which period Niš was being intensively built. He was the first to receive the "January 11th" reward.
In the first multiparty election he was elected Member of Parliament of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and a member of Federal Assembly Republic Council. He was next elected federal MP in City Council of the Assembly of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in two mandate periods. In the National Assembly he presided over the Board of Security and Defense and in both Assemblies was a member of the Constitutional Commission, the Legislative Board and the Board of Security and Defense.
He was elected member of Niš University Council. He is a professor at Faculty of Legal Science in Priština, teaching Administrative Law, and he also taught Political System and Local self-government at postgraduate studies. He acted as head of department of public and legal science and a member of the Board of Legal Sciences of Priština University, as well as a member of the Board of Legal-Economic sciences at the same University. As of October 2004 he has been the consecutive president of the Council of Faculty of legal sciences in Priština and was elected for the same function for the SECOND time in December 2006.
He is currently active professor at the University of Niš on the lecture State Administration and local self-government.
Also he acts as a member of the Board of Social and human Sciences at the University. He is editor-in-chief of an international magazine "Lokalna Samouprava". Furthermore, he published a study on administrative law along with 14 books regarding State administration and local self-government, accompanied by 70 articles he wrote for international as well as for domestic magazines.
He was recently elected MP in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. He is the acting president of the District SPS board for Nišava District.
Married, father of two.
