Niš City Council adopted the proposal to join Alliance of European Cultural Cities. AVEC is international network gathering 30 cities from 11 European countries among which are: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Spain, France, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Romania and Serbia. Energy Cities is the European Association of local authorities inventing their energy future. Founded in 1990, Energy Cities represents more than 1000 local authorities from 30 countries. The City of Nis has been a member of Energy Cities since 2003. |

The City of Niš is the part of the project "South East Europe City Network" (SEE City Network), which is realised in the partnership with Eurocities. By creating this network, Eurocities wanted to enhance establishing of the good cooperation between the member cities and to assist in the creation of the projects with which they could apply to EU funds. |

The Glocal Forum is the leading international organization in the field of city-to-city cooperation; Glocal Forum helps communities from around the world to foster a balance between global opportunities and local priorities and to overcome divisions and conflict. It links local players with global resources and expertise as the key to a more peaceful and global-local balanced world. The organization emphasizes the central role of cities in international relations through thier “Glocalization” vision – think globally-act locally. The Glocal Forum Network is made up of over 140 cities on five continents and nearly 100 partners from the public and private sectors. |

City of Niš accessed the membership in "The Mayors for Peace" in August 2006. This organization is composed of cities around the world that have formally expressed support for the Program for promotion of Solidarity of Cities toward the Total Abolition of Nuclear Weapons announced in 1982 by then Mayor of Hiroshima Takeshi Araki at the 2nd UN Special Session on Disarmament held in New York.
